Hear about how I support the community and charities below.
Since 2022, Paula Bicknell Wealth has supported a local charity called ‘Parenting Special Children'.
Parenting Special Children (PSC) is a local Berkshire based charity providing specialist support services to families of children and young people with special needs and disabilities. Set up over 16 years ago, the charity has supported thousands of parents/carers and more than 900 professionals through its various services. In 2021 PSC supported 2,847 Berkshire families during the difficult times of the pandemic.
Parenting Children’s Services include A dedicated Helpline, Sleep, Trauma, Specialist workshops, Support Groups, One to One Support for families facing complex adversities, Family Events, Training for Professionals, Transition to Adulthood and Social Interaction groups for Neurodiverse children and young people. After accessing PSC's support, families feel less isolated and more confident to support their children. The charity empowers families, helping them to face multiple adversities, creating long lasting and resilient positive change, 'Prevention before Crisis'.
Support in 2024 will include the annual golf day at the Royal Ascot Golf Club which will include Paula Bicknell Wealth sponsoring a hole, providing an auction prize and helping organising the event on the day.

In 2020, Paula was hoping to participate in Endure 24 again, but unfortunately the event has been cancelled due to Covid-19.
In 2019, Paula was looking for a different challenge and decided to take part in Endure 24. This is a relay 'race' where a team run a 5 mile loop for 24 hours. The team comprised of Paula Bicknell, Karen Fowler, Debbie Atkins and Sara Lambourn. We set up camp early on Saturday and started the relay, unfortunately Sara, who was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis started to struggle and had to walk. In the middle of the night, they decided to run 'double loops' or 10 miles so that there was a longer break between laps and they could get some rest. By the end of the event the team had run/walked for 110 miles and completed 22 laps. 'I have never run 30 miles before in my life and although it was tough, having a break between laps made it easier. The second lap was the hardest, but I loved the whole thing, particularly the whole camaraderie of the event. Thank you to everyone that supported the event and we raised funds for Young People with Dementia (Berks). Particularly thanks to the team Sara, Karen and Debbie!' (Paula Bicknell – Practice Principal)
In 2018, Paula was hoping to be able to run her first Half Marathon at Reading, but due to the snow the Half Marathon was cancelled. Paula still wanted to run and decided to run it at Eton Dorney the following month instead. The weather went from snow to the hottest day of the year so far in the course of a month.
The run was a challenge, particularly when there was no water left at the first water station and the course is not as varied as Reading with a lot fewer spectators. Half Marathon completed and really pleased to raise funds for Young People With Dementia (Berks). This is a local charity that supports people who have been diagnosed with Dementia before the age of 65, they offer support, activities and expertise. Thank you to everyone that sponsored me to provided much needed funds for this local charity.
Following a request from a local children’s football club, I am pleased to confirm that Paula Bicknell Wealth will be sponsoring the Woodley Wanderers Under 13s football team. This team is a group of year 7 boys and they have been playing up a year, so against boys a year older than them. The team ended the season top of the league and they won every one of their matches. Best of luck for next season.
A quote from the coach of the football club: "Many thanks Paula for sponsoring our youth football team. The new kit looks fantastic and has been greatly received by all of the players. This generous donation has helped to ensure the team can continue to play youth football for the foreseeable future."
